Choi Hye-jin (Lotte), 24, is off to a strong start in her quest for her first victory in a tournament organized by her main sponsor.
Choi shaved six strokes off her score in the second round of the Lotte Open on the KLPGA Tour 2023 at Bears Best Golf Club in Cheongna, Incheon, on Sunday to finish with a 9-under par 135, good for a share of second place behind Jung Yun-ji (-11).
As a Lotte player, Choi is eager to win a sponsored event. In fact, Choi flew home early for this tournament and is in good shape after playing the E1 Charity Open last week. 토토사이트
After her second round, Choi said, “I’m happy with my overall performance today. I had a bogey-free round yesterday, so I was aiming for a bogey-free round today as well, but I’m disappointed that I didn’t make it, but I made a lot of birdies and hit a lot of good shots, so I’m happy with the day.”
Choi said that watching her juniors awakened her attacking instincts. “I think that because I experienced difficult courses in major tournaments and overseas, I unknowingly developed a habit of not swinging confidently and hitting it in line or adjusting it because I thought that I had to put the tee shot in the fairway,” she said. “So I tried to swing confidently both last week and this week, and I played with more tempo and power than last week, and it seems to be working well.” She laughed.
Since the team will be traveling back and forth between the U.S. and Korea, there will be physical challenges such as jet lag. In response, Choi Hye-jin said, “Since I was a child, I often participated in overseas competitions, so I didn’t think I had any difficulties or problems with jet lag, but recently I’ve been feeling a bit tired. The change of day and night is better, but it’s hard to get used to the 3-4 hour difference,” she said. “However, I learned to adapt to it by playing a tour in the U.S. last year, and I think I’m adjusting well this year.”
With two days to go until the winner is crowned, Choi’s eyes are still on the prize. “I’m getting better and better,” she said. I will use that to play well in the remaining rounds,” she said.
