Jeonbuk Hyundai’s Czech Petrasek is working hard to adapt to the K League 1.

The Jeonbuk Hyundai-Daejeon Hana Citizen match of the 28th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 kicked off at 7:30 p.m. on April 25 at Jeonju World Cup Stadium in Jeonju, Jeolla Province. The result was 1-1, a draw. Daejeon took the lead in the 34th minute through Thiago, but Jeonbuk equalized in the 38th minute through Song Min-gyu. After that, the two teams went scoreless and the match ended in a draw.

Petrasek is a central defender who was signed by Jeonbuk in the summer transfer window and made his sixth K League 1 appearance in Daejeon. After the game, he spoke to the Mix Zone about his time in Korea.

Petrasek said, “It’s not an excuse, but it’s a little difficult because I came from Europe after a break. After that, I spent some time building up and finding my rhythm. I’m not 100% yet. It will get better day by day.”

Petrasek was in the vicinity of the goal against Daejeon. He didn’t seem to be in sync with Jeonbuk goalkeeper Kim Jung-hoon. “I’ll have to analyze it and see what happened,” Petrasek said. But I think it was my responsibility as a defender in that situation. Actually, from the outside of the pitch, it looks like an easy ball, but it’s not necessarily. Anyway, I’m still adjusting. I’m positive,” he said, promising to improve.

Petrasek also mentioned that he is adjusting to the Korean soccer culture as best he can.

“I’ve been in one team for seven years and now I’m in Korea. I have to adapt to the team and the style. I also need to get used to the referees. So I still need time. On a positive note, I feel like I’m improving little by little. Of course, this can be an excuse, but I still have to prove it.”

Petrasek, who is also a center back for the Czech Republic, spent seven years at Raków Częstochowa, one of the top clubs in the Polish Extraclassa. For a center back, he was a prolific scorer and even won a league title. He’s a proven player who has survived in Europe’s top flight as a starter, so it should only be a matter of time before he adapts to Jeonbuk. Above all, Petrasek’s overwhelming physicality and delivery is what makes him so promising. 먹튀검증
