Ha-Sung Kim, 28, of the San Diego Padres, played in the final game of a three-game series against last year’s World Series champion Houston Astros but couldn’t help his team avoid a sweep.
Kim batted 1-for-4 in the leadoff spot in the lineup against the Astros at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, USA, on April 11.
With his two-game hitting streak, Kim kept his season average at .271.
San Diego fell to 2-12 against Houston after allowing eight runs in the sixth inning alone.
With the loss, the Padres dropped two of three against the Astros after winning one and losing two, dropping their record to 67-77 on the season. It also eliminated the Padres’ chances of winning the National League West.
Kim had one hit on offense, but the Dodgers’ defense prevented a multi-hit game.
After singling to right field in his first at-bat in the first inning, Kim was called out on a video review in his second at-bat of the inning.
After leading off with a walk, Kim hit a sweeper from starter JP Franks and quickly ran to second base. The ball was caught by diving center fielder Chas McCormick, but video review confirmed it was a one-base throw.
Kim recovered the hit, but the umpire called it a single instead of a double. He had to return to first base, frustrated with the call 먹튀검증.
Kim then advanced to third on Jurickson Profar’s single to center field, putting runners on first and third with no outs.
However, San Diego was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Juan Soto struck out and Xander Bogaerts walked to load the bases with no outs.
Kim was unable to produce another hit. In the fifth inning, he hit a line drive down the right field line that was caught by right fielder Kyle Tucker. In the top of the seventh, he was thrown out at third on a grounder to shortstop.
San Diego’s bullpen completely imploded, scoring three runs in the third, one in the fourth, and eight in the sixth. Tim Hill, the second pitcher to enter the game in the bottom of the sixth, struggled, allowing five runs on six hits without recording a single out.
He was replaced by Brett Sullivan in the bottom of the eighth inning to start the defense.
San Diego, meanwhile, will begin a three-game series against the National League West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers on April 12.
